Development of methods and means of saving and control power quality of energy intensive industries due to energy-efficient electric systems

Project author: National Mining University, Department of Renewable Energy Sources, Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine).

Project objective: Accumulation of electricity supply systems group using capacitive energy storage and reuse for supply drives and the creation of new systems of automatic control of power quality and, consequently, reduce losses in power plants and transmission lines, as well as improving the electromagnetic compatibility of different consumers.

Project background: Currently, the frequency-regulated asynchronous drive power converter is performed on the basis of the PWM VSI. However, in this case possible to realize a braking of the inverter without regenerative power supply, which leads to significant losses in electric energy to the pressure of dynamic modes.

Since electric consume most of the power generation across the country, this leads to a significant power losses.

Additionally, static voltage converters consume from network non-sinusoidal current, which increases the load and the energy loss in the elements of electrical systems, and also worsens the electromagnetic compatibility of different consumers.

Therefore the development of effective methods and means energy savings and the normalization of its quality in industrial electric systems where there are significant reserves, actual and claimed by the practice.
