Geoinformation technology of unconventional hydrocarbons forecasting in igneous and metamorphic rocks using space and ground-based surveys Project author: National Mining University, Department of Geoinformation Systems, Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine) Project objective: Creation and applying of new geoinformation computer technology for unconventional basement deposits of oil and gas searching using satellite, geophysical and geological data. Project background. Nowadays in Europe, and, in particular, in Ukraine, the potential of discovery of traditional type oil and gas deposits is almost exhausted. Therefore, the task of searching for unconventional hydrocarbon deposits, occurred in crystal rocks has a special importance. The investigations at this direction are actively conducted by specialists of Geoinformation Systems Department of the National Mining University (Dniepropetrovsk, Ukraine), developed a specialized geographical information system called RAPID – a modern tool for solving a wide range of geological, ecological and nature management applications. Conducted investigations have confirmed that the basement deposits of hydrocarbons are reflected in cosmic and geological and geophysical data complex, which allows to use modern GIS technology of integrated analysis of these materials to identify the rules of the oil and gas placing. The successful implementation of the project will contribute to the discovery of new hydrocarbon objects and thus increase the energy security of both Ukraine and Europe as a whole, as well as the emergence of new work vacancies in Eastern and Central Ukraine. |
