Geoinformation system of the integrated analysis of different-type and different-level data using RAPID GIS

Project author: National Mining University, Department of Geoinformation Systems, Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine)

Project objective: Spatial data processing and analysis tasks solution efficiency increasing in geology, mining, ecology and environmental management.

Project background. The sustainable development of economics and society is impossible without continuous increasing efficiency of environmental management and subsoil management using up-to-date information technologies. It assumes attraction and processing of large volumes of the spatial information provided as different-type and different-level data of satellite, geological, geophysical, geochemical, ecological, meteorological and other surveys. One of the most important scientific and technical approaches to effectively operate with large volumes of spatial information is developing new specialized geoinformation systems (GIS) that combines possibilities of storing, processing, visualization and Data Mining procedures.

The specialized RAPID GIS (the Recognition, the Automated Prognosis, Interpretation of Data), being a powerful tool of the integrated analysis of spatial data is created by specialists of the National Mining University. RAPID GIS is intended for a wide range of environmental management problems solution, monitoring of the environment state, ecology, dangerous natural and technogenic phenomena forecasting, geology, mineral deposits searching etc. The RAPID GIS uses technology based on the Data Mining procedures, images processing, geostatistics, spatial data analysis. It uses the principle of the multiple solutions of tasks by means of imitating modelling and computing experiments conducting.

Universal tools of system allow analysing almost any situations or phenomena or any object described by spatial data. Experience of the RAPID GIS applying to forecasting and monitoring tasks solving in various areas testifies to its efficiency, flexibility and wide prospects of further usage. RAPID GIS is registered by State department of intellectual property of the Ministry of science and education of Ukraine (certificate: No. 30616, 10.12.2009)
