Improvement of technological schemes of transport when developing open pit mining based on the use of ground-layer cable roads

Project author: National Mining University, Department of Transport Systems and Technology, Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine)

Project objective: Development and substantiation of technological schemes parameters of ground-layer cable roads use when developing when developing open pit mining.

Project background: Transportation of rock mass by quarry transport is the most energy-intensive, time-consuming and costly process in open pit mining, it shares 50-70% of total operating costs for mining operations.

Among all types of quarry transport automobile transport occupies a special place, it provides transportation for about 80% of the rock mass in the open pit mining companies in the world. At the same time automobile transport is the most energy-intensive, costly and environmentally damaging type of transport.

Developing of new technological solutions to improve transport systems of break stone quarries is extremely urgent at the present stage of open pit mining development with increasing complexity of operating conditions. The direction of improving is increasing energy and economic efficiency while reducing emissions of harmful substances in exhaust gases into the atmosphere, which in turn can be achieved by reducing the distance of transportation when using ground-layer cable roads.
